History

History

TDB Consultants Inc. was founded in Prince George, BC, in 1987 by Timothy Douglas Baines. Over the past three decades, the company has grown into a respected resource management firm—adding expert staff, new technologies, and expanded capabilities to better serve clients across the natural resource sector.

After Mr. Baines stepped away in 1999 to pursue other opportunities (while continuing to contribute to select projects), TDB remained under steady, forward-thinking leadership. The company built its reputation on delivering innovative, practical solutions and fostering long-term partnerships.

TDB has a strong track record of collaboration—forming strategic alliances and joint ventures with organizations in technology, mapping, environmental services and resource management.

In 2025, TDB acquired NorCan Consulting Ltd., a well-established firm specializing in archaeology and heritage services. This strategic move expanded our expertise in cultural resource assessments, heritage permitting and Indigenous engagement.

Today, TDB NorCan offers fully integrated, multidisciplinary consulting services—supporting projects across Prince George, BC, and beyond, with a continued focus on collaboration, community and client success.
