BC Hydro

Multiphase Project with BC Hydro

Scope of Work

BC Hydro commissioned TDB to help plan, implement, manage, and follow up its vegetation management strategy for the Northern B.C. region.

After working with BC Hydro to finalize the approach we began by identifying hazard trees, assessing the risk and marking these trees accordingly. This is an important first step to ensure that healthy, viable trees which pose no risk are not cut down. Environmental conscientiousness is part of everything we do.

We proceeded to identify which of the hazard trees were located on private lands and work with the land owners to gain consent. At the same time we worked with the proper government departments to obtain a forestry license for planned cutting. We also coordinated the required inspection after manually and mechanically executing the felling plan.

The result is no fire incidences or power outages due to vegetation interference in this region. Our work contributes to BC Hydro’s customer satisfaction and supports its promise of reliable electricity services.

TDB representatives were readily available to meet with BC Hydro to discuss our challenges, understand our needs, and participate in operational trials that improved the effectiveness and quality of our work.’
